If anything caught my mild interest, it was Call of Duty: Dog edition. Mostly because there was a dog in it, and everyone loves dogs.

Spoiler:
The dog dies for emotional purposes.

Report: All Xbox One games must be installed, secondhand players must pay fee

Xbox One apparently won't be backwards compatible

Just keep digging that hole Micro$oft.

Well of course they have to be installed. How else could you simultaneously look at Star Trek trailers, update your fantasy teams, and play Halo at the same time?

And I guess I can see the benefit of the fee thing. You could have one guy buy the game, install it, then pass it around to all his friends. Then everyone splits the lowered total cost.

That's assuming these fees aren't, like, $40 or something. >_>

The amount of fucks I give about marketing shit like this approximately equals zero, especially given how pitifully weak consoles tend to be compared to PCs anyway.

The new controller is cool (lol @ being called innovative though), since I thought the old controller was close to being perfect EXCEPT for that horrible, horrible d-pad.

If a cool new fighting game gets announced later down the line, I might be interested in a console (assuming the PC port is shitty and uses Games for Windows Live), otherwise, paaaaaaass.

Destructoid wrote:Xbox One games will come with a unique redeemable code which will require Internet access to activate and as part of this setup, the software you purchase will be installed from the disc to your system's hard drive. While the redemption process links the titles to your Xbox Live account, anyone playing on the same Xbox One as you won't have to pay for a second copy.

However, once the code is used, the disc essentially becomes a paperweight should you attempt to share with a friend, for instance. "The bits that are on that disc, you can give it to your friend and they can install it on an Xbox One," said Spencer. "They would then have to purchase the right to play that game through Xbox Live." Full price for a new title, that is.

I'm perfectly okay with the part you quoted as long as there's no activation fee, or any other additional cost of activating games online (meaning they better damn not have activation as a part of Xbox Live Memberships). If you want to play at a friend's house, sure, you need to sign into your profile, but the article also states that you don't NEED to be online after that, just in case the Internet goes out. Unless, of course, you're playing online multiplayer, but that's just how everything has always been, forever.

The one thing I actually do care about is something you didn't quote:

Article wrote:Asked about how this would impact single-player titles, Spencer said he believes the user would need to go online with their console at least once per day.

Really? This is just plain annoying. What if I was fucking around on the Internet on my PC all day, without touching my Xbox One, when suddenly the Internet goes out? Then I can't play anything on my Xbox One?

While it's certainly not the end of the world, if I were to actually give into buying a console, PS4 is the only one that sounds like it doesn't have stupid bullshit attached + actually has kind-of decent hardware.

Actually, since the Xbox One doesn't read games from discs, like, at all, you would have to bring the game to your friend's house, install it on their Xbox, and make sure you're signed into your account while you play.

And that's assuming Microsoft will even let you install a game to more than one Xbox One without paying a fee. Meaning, even though the game is assigned to your account, you only get to install it on one Xbox. I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft thinks that if you own a game your friend doesn't and want to play it at their house, you should have to lug your Xbox One to their house, even if they already have an Xbox One.

So if Sony avoids doing any of the stupid ideas Microsoft thinks are good then Sony already won the console war against Xbox and all they did so far was showed their controller and sweet New games.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next gen went like this one for a lot of gamers: owning a Wii U for its exclusives and either an Xbox One or PS4 for the multiplats/their exclusives.

Except instead of choosing between an Xbox 360 or PS3, most people are gonna lean towards the PS4.

I mean, that's at least the way things look now. Microsoft still has time to show us those 15 exclusives they've got and stuff. But they seem to be waaaaay too focused on giving us a multimedia subscription box than giving us a game console.
